UPDATE: EVENT CANCELED Cool Opportunity this Sunday, September 29th!

UPDATE: EVENT CANCELED

Due to continued budget deliberations in Washington DC, this even has been rescheduled for October 20th at 12PM.

Current Events – Bonus Civic Engagement Opportunity

This Sunday, September 29th at 2 PM, the United States Congresswoman from our district, Suzanne Bonamici, will be at the Sauvie Island Grange for a Town Hall meeting. I highly encourage you to attend this event, to listen, and hopefully engage the congresswoman in conversation.
The assignment: If you choose to attend this event, it will count for one of your Current Event Log entries and will count for extra credit toward two of your previous entries. If you go, please follow the general Current Events Log format:

·         Write one paragraph summarizing the meeting—what happened? What were the topics? Who spoke? Etc.

·         Write one paragraph with your personal response to the Town Hall Meeting. Was it fun? Was it effective (did she address her constituents’ concerns and questions)? Do you agree with what she spoke about? Why or why not?

As a bonus, I would encourage you to engage the congresswoman in conversation—perhaps about our school or education funding in general, or another topic relevant to the island that you are passionate about.

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet our congresswoman in person, I hope you’ll consider going!

SUN, Sept 29
2:00 pm - Sauvie Island Town Hall Meeting with U.S. Representative Suzanne Bonamici, Sauvie Island Academy. This is your opportunity to hear our Congresswoman’s positions on important issues, ask questions, and meet with staff regarding problems with federal agencies.
