Hi 8th Graders,
For winter break, please do your best to finish all work assigned in Showbie. Most of you started on all assignments and just need to wrap them up and upload them to Showbie. If you do not have access to Showbie at home, please check and make sure that the assignments posted below are complete (either on the worksheet or on paper) and bring them with you when we get back from break to upload to Showbie.
Email me if you have any questions and remember to use your book and online book as a resource.

8th Winter Break Wrap Up HW (Social Studies)
Hi 8th Graders,
Here are several links to help you finish your Revolutionary War Essay. Remember, you have notes on all of these readings. I've included the notes organizers/assignments as attachments in case you need another/misplaced yours/need a refresher. Please share your finished essay with me via Google Drive/Docs.
This essay is now due Monday, January 9th. I encourage you to finish the essay sooner than later--perhaps this weekend! But, I want to give the opportunity for you to check in with me in person; that is why it will now be due one week after we return. However, there will be no more classtime given to this assignment.
The short version of the essay assignment is: a 1-2 page essay on the causes of the Revolutionary War. You can also add your thoughts on whether rebellion was unavoidable or could have been prevented. Everything you need to do this is your notes on the several readings we did. Also, think about the "break up letter" (aka Declaration of Independence) activity we did. The key is that you show me you understand multiple factors that, when combined, led to the American Revolution.
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
"Toward Independence" Reading:
Toward Independence--Intro
Section 2: Before 1763
Section 3: Early British Actions in the Colonies
Section 4: Townshend Acts
Section 5: The Boston Massacre
Section 6: The Boston Tea Party
Section 7: The Intolerable Acts
Section 8: Lexington and Concord
Note Organizer for "Toward Independence" Reading
Pamphlet Assignment
(this also went with the Toward Independence reading--you wrote from your, or your character from our role-play, perspective on whether the events we learned about would be enough for you to want to rebel against England. This is great pre-writing for the essay assignment).
Lastly, please feel free to email me with any questions that come up.
Thanks!
-Mr. Radich
