Classroom News September
Hi all,
It's been a fantastic and productive first few weeks back! I've listed just a little bit of what each grade has been up to in Social Studies below. Be sure to scroll through the blog for more photos, posts, and agendas.
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Radich
6th Grade Social Studies
We're in our Early Humans unit at the moment. So far students have learned about different types of "history detectives" (archaeologists, geologists, historians) and how they uncover mysteries of the past. We went on a "cave walk" examining photos of cave paintings and carvings left behind by some of our earliest ancestors, made observations and hypotheses about why they were made. Students also made poster of their favorite topics so far to teach to others--these are currently on display in our main lobby up by Sam's area, check them out!
7th Grade Social Studies
We start the year with a writing unit on realistic fiction. Each student writes a narrative--some are more realistic and autobiographical and others delve into sci-fi! We start the year this way to engage in in-depth writing, hone our writing skills, and as a baseline to consider that social studies looks at the human narrative over time. Be sure to ask your student about their writing so far!
8th Grade Social Studies
We're currently in an Economics unit, learning some basics about macro economics through a project-based scenario in which each student is advising a start-up shoe company. Students have to make decisions about shoe style, materials, marketing, and the production chain. Their posters will be on display up in the lobby starting next week--keep an eye out!

8th grade weekend math HW
8th graders, spend only 20-30 minutes trying to wrap up the review problem sets from class. Remember to add your self-evaluation note to each section in your comp book.
