One of our 6th graders brought in these super fascinating Oregonians from the 1940s! All grades had a chance this week to check them out, see what was happening in the world (and Portland!) in 1940 as well make some fun comparisons with advertisements between then and now. Students were especially shocked at the "low" prices (we briefly discussed inflation) as well as impressed that Fred Meyer, Safeway, and the Oregonian were around 74 years ago, how cool!
