6th Grade Students Awarded Grant for Edible Garden!

Katie's Krop's Selects SIA Project for Funding
Congratulations go out to 6th grade students Sophia  and Bailey, who in collaboration with their teacher, Mr. Radich, prepared and submitted a recent grant proposal to Katie's Krops, a non-profit that supports student-led gardens where the entire harvest is then donated to people in need.  This week the girls were notified that their project was selected for funding!
As part of the grant process, Sophia and Bailey completed the grant application and submitted a short video explaining why they wanted to be part of Katie's Krops.  The girls proposed dedicating two of the six raised garden beds to the project and donating their harvest to the Scappoose Senior Center Gleaners Program.  Here's a link to the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnto_M_kmfk  The grant is providing a $400 gift card to a garden store of choice to purchase necessary materials, a digital camera to record progress, and both of them will have the opportunity to attend The Katie's Krops Summer Camp in June located in South Carolina (all expenses paid!).
Way to go Sophia & Bailey!
